About Rado Brands

Rado - If We Can Imagine It, We Can Make It.

Rado is considered a Swiss luxury brand of watches, with headquarters in Lengnau, Switzerland. It was formed in 1917 as Schulp & Co., but the brand launched its first collection of watches under the name of Rado in 1957. During the second world war, Rado kept their manufacturing business intact by staying neutral in the neutral country Switzerland. Reaping the benefits of neutralism, Rado became one of the largest producers of watch movements by the end of the war. Since then, Rado watches have been following in the footsteps of their motto, ‘if we can imagine it, we can make it’. This motto inspired Rado to produce the first watch under their name called the Green Horse in 1957.

In 1962, Rado launched the Rado Diastar, the world’s first scratch-resistant watch. Diastar marked Rado’s journey of sailing on the waves of creating unique amalgamations of materials. Especially, the usage of ceramic in the watchmaking industry is attributed to Rado watches.

Post the Diastar fame came ‘Captain Cook’. A timepiece specially curated for doctors, engineers, athletes, deep-sea divers, and racing car drivers.

Rado’s infatuation with ceramic is well-known and this has provided the brand with light, hypoallergenic, and durable timepieces. The usage of high-tech ceramic is the product of 35 years of indulgence in the material. Ceramos, a ceramic/metal alloy, high-tech ceramic, plasma high-tech ceramic, bronze and hard metal, a special, extremely scratch-resistant tungsten-carbide ceramic compound, are all facets of the brand's never-ending quest for discovery.

Rado has received more than 20 elite international design awards for both their collaboration with Jasper Morrison for a unique watch box that looks like a human wrist. The brand is the official timekeeper of the International Tennis tournaments in Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia. Andy Murray, Britain’s number one tennis player is the brand ambassador of Rado and he perfectly embodies the pioneering strength of the brand. The collections under Rado are Captain Cook, True Square, True, True Thinline, Centrix, Hyperchrome, Diamaster, Coupole Classic, and Ceramica.
